With all that’s going on in the world during this crazy/sad/scary time and many of us staying home, please STAY HOME (if you can), I thought I’d share a recent project Landyn and I took on that involves ingredients you can find in your home. The 2 ingredients that we didn’t already have in our home were still available on prime and arrived the very next day!
While bath bombs are fun (for all ages!) to make and use, they’re also great for your health! Here are the key ingredients that promote health and wellness…
Epsom salt contains magnesium which helps the body get rid of toxins responsible for inflammation and also reduces swelling and pain. It promotes sleep, stabilizes mood and relieves stress – all of which are super important for us to stay mentally and physically healthy right now.
I started using essential oils a little over a year ago and haven’t looked back! These little drops of wellness have been a total game changer for our family’s health and helpful in removing chemical toxins from our home. From there you can sign up as a wholesale member and unlock a number of great benefits. Do not worry, this does not mean you are required to sell or purchase oils monthly. You are signing up to get a starter kit and therefore 24% off retail prices on every oil, forever (totally worth it! Think of it like a Costco membership).
For our bath bombs, I used Stress Away and Lavender essential oils, both of which come in the Young living starter kit and smell absolutely amazing! Stress Away promotes stress reduction and a calm mind while lavender is known for reducing anxiety and aiding in restful sleep. Who couldn’t use less stress and better sleep these days?! Sign me up!
1 cup baking soda
1/2 cup citric acid
1/2 cup Epsom salt
1/2 cup corn-starch
4 tbsp coconut oil (melted)
1 tsp water
10 drops of your favorite essential oil
2 tsp of all-natural food coloring (optional)
In a large bowl, whisk together baking soda, citric acid, Epsom salt, corn starch and food coloring (optional).
In a separate small bowl, combine the melted coconut oil, essential oils, and a tsp of water.
I personally love lavender and stress away oils for bath bombs.
While whisking dry ingredients in the large bowl, very slowly add the liquid ingredients from the small bowl into the large bowl until well combined.
Very tightly pack the mixture into molds or a cupcake tray and let sit for 24 hours.
This part was tricky but I found it worked best when I took the balls out of the mold right after pressing them and then let them sit and harden for 24 hours. If using a cupcake tray try letting them dry in the tray.
Take a nice longgg relaxing bath! Or if you have kids throw them in the bath with a couple bath bombs for a little R&R while they play!
Stay healthy friends!
