Reihman Road is an online community dedicated to cultivating a meaningful and beautiful life. Within these digital walls, you'll discover an array of inspiration and resources that have been thoughtfully curated to bring joy and ease to your life.
I’m a firm believer in investing in original art. Art can completely transform and define your home, making it unique and special to you and more interesting to your guests. It adds character and interest that furniture, materials and accessories alone just can’t quite achieve. That being said, sometimes it’s hard to find art and artists that you love. I’ve thought long and hard about how to best help others find beautiful, original art and, that’s where Reihman Road’s The Artist Edit comes in!
Today I’m excited to introduce Camille Cornett, the artist behind beautiful cloud paintings and fresh yet timeless abstracts that will completely define any space and become the focal point for you and your guests to enjoy for years to come.
She’s releasing a abstract collection on March 1st and I couldn’t be more excited for this launch!
Tell us 5 fun facts about you!
I am a self taught artist. My academic background is not only in fashion merchandising but elementary education. Not just women’s fashion- but men’s! I interned very briefly at a men’s sportswear showroom in NY and had a job interview lined up at Cartier on 5th ave but decided to come home to Louisiana, where I pursued teaching K-2.
I go by my middle name!
I am the youngest of 4 girls
I started painting to fill walls when my family purchased a new house
Where are you from and how does it influence your work?
was born in Louisiana and currently live in coastal Alabama. I am heavily influenced by fashion, nature, and living life on the bay currently. The cloud collection correlates to my life on the bay and living near the water. I am working on a new abstract collection out March 1 and it will be influenced on unique and playful color combinations.
Who is your biggest artist influences?
So many! I’ll just name a few Cy Twombly, Bobby Burgers, Karina Gentinetta, William McClure, Helen frankenthaler, Mary Nelson Sinclair, Maja dlugolecka, Michael James Cisarick, Danijela knezevic, Gwen Hardie, Tyler buck Guinn, Crystal Michelson
When is your favorite time of day to create?
After many cups of coffee in the morning until I pick up my kids from school
What motivates you to create?
I felt at a young age age the yearning to create. I had a tree house and hung all of my creations in it and called it an art club. I love beautiful rooms, decor, fabric, lighting etc – Instagram is a huge motivator- getting to see designers conceptualize their creativity is very inspiring.
Where can your art be purchased?
Through my website and Instagram @camillecornettart / https://camillecornett.art and select pieces at thecollectivedallas.com
Camille loved creating from a young age and continues to do so today which is total life goals, isn’t it?! Her love for creating and beautiful interiors definitely shows through in her work and her pieces are made to be showcased in gorgeous spaces! I hope you enjoyed “meeting” Camille as much as I did and if you’re loving her art as much as I do, make sure to pin a few of your favorites to keep them top of mind for your next art purchase or check her website https://camillecornett.artIf
